Question by Grem L: How do I get a clinician to argue for my health insurance to cover residential eating disorder treatment?
I have an eating disorder almost 7 years in the making. I am looking for residential treatment now, but my health insurance does not cover it. How do I get a clinician to argue for this, and is that even the proper way to go about it?
Thanks for any help.

If the insurance does not cover it, then, it will simply not cover it regardless of what the doctor says. And I doubt your doctor is willing to risk his license to state your disorder in a different way.

Eating Disorders: New Approaches to Treatment (BVL10993)
Eating disorders are not just about food, but about the struggle with loss of emotional control. This program from The Doctor Is In examines the use of antidepressants and cognitive behavioral therapy to combat these dangerous illnesses. Russell Marx, M.D., of the eating disorders program at the Princeton Medical Center, and Marcia Herrin, Ed.D., M.P.H., R.D., of the Dartmouth College Health Service, explain what is being done to prevent and treat one of the most lethal categories of mental illness.
