Compulsive Gambling, Problem Gambling, Gambling Addiction

www.gamblinghelper.com “Whether it’s in a casino or online, poker and other games of chance are becoming increasingly popular. It’s not just men who are addicted, a growing number of women are becoming compulsive gamblers, too. Early Show correspondent Hattie Kauffman takes a closer look at the troubling trend,” news anchor. “The reality is the longer you gamble compulsively, which is what I was doing, the more you become a compulsive liar,” Melanie Morgan, former gambling addict. “In the 1980s Melanie Morgan was a successful television anchor until her gambling addiction cost her, her job and nearly destroyed her marriage,” Hattie Kauffman, CBS national correspondent. “I would lie about where I was going, what I was doing, who I was with, how much money I was spending,” Melanie Morgan. “Even her pregnancy did not stop Melanie from gambling,” Hattie Kauffman. “Of course I was in a terrible environment, smoke-filled rooms, hardly taking care of myself. I was gambling until an hour before I gave birth,” Melanie Morgan. “After her son was born, she often left the infant with an assortment of babysitters,” Kauffman. “I remember packing up the baby one day and driving around to each of the card rooms where I thought she might be and finally locating her and taking the baby in its carrier and putting the baby in the middle of the poker table and saying, ‘You got a choice. You want to play cards or you want to be a Mom?’” Jack Morgan, Melanie’s husband. “I knew at that point I

I’m looking for rehab centers or hospitals which provide treatment programs for drug addicts. My father has been addicted to heroin for two years now and after a series of persuasion and confrontations, he eventually admitted the fact that he needs help. I want my dad to get better as soon as possible so now I’m looking for the facility that will provide the best treatment program to help him recover fast. I really need answers. Thanks.

I admire you for taking the initiative of persuading and confronting your dad about his addiction. There are some websites containing lists of different institutions which offers specific drug treatment programs. I’ve posted some of the below for you to check out. Good luck with your father’s journey to full recovery.

@TheNinja07 you can and you must! I was the worst, pathological,i really thought there was no way, when i read your words I sensed desperation, yes,it will lead to a form of insanity if you continue, but in my walks of life,I’ve seen the worst situations turn around, start by closing your eyes, breath slowly, let go of the past,it cannot come back, visualize yourself as in the winners circle, you need to believe you can,I know you can, it’s your life, don’t let this thing kill you.

I think that the Dow Jones Industrial Average, Goldman Sachs, is a real casino that rocked the nation affecting those who were not gambling get hit with job losses. Even those who did not lose money in the stock market had to deplete their nest egg to feed their families when the unemployment income is cut off due to long bouts of being unemployed and one has to live off the savings.

@petr0nilo A little advice, since your used to making fast money its hard to go out and enjoy a simple job making $11 bucks/hour when you know you could be making $100 bucks/hr gambling so I would suggest doing something similar. Similar in the sense that your making fast money or easy money. I was able to stop gambling by buying and selling items on Craigslist. I find cheap cars on CL and then sell them at a profit. It satisfies my desire to make a quick buck like gambling does. Hope this helps

@petr0nilo I too am 21 and started gambling when I was 19 and lost everything. I even did 6 months in prison for stealing to satisfy my addiction. Your not a bad person, you probably gamble cause you want to by your family nice things and you feel like eventually you’ll hit the big one that will allow you to do that but you keep losing right? and sometimes you may do well but you end up giving it back right? The only way you’ll stop is if you find something else to occupy your time.

@josh91w Poker isn’t a game of chance? Don’t believe the bullshit, I’ve seen pocket aces cracked several thousand times and a vast majority of the best poker players in the world have gone broke. There are only like 20-30ppl out of millions who are consistent winners in the big games.

@prokopton Poker isn’t a regular casino game, because that’s a game where you CAN shift the odds in your favor through skill – namely bluffing. Some actually consider it a healthy game to play, as it can help you bullshit people in daily life.

Standard casino games like roulette and blackjack are indeed based on chance. It is very difficult to find a “system” to shift the odds in your favor, and if the casino senses you have a working system, they can kick you out.

By the way, further to my comments below, I am not singling out ‘Bet 365′, just gambling in general. I don’t have any expertise in suggesting a 100% valid solution to the serious nature of this type of addiction, but many of us have seen evidence of the sadness it causes. My family spend around £96.00 per year on the National Lottery, but that’s as far as it goes for us. For those who are trying to stop gambling, I wish you the best of luck. Stay strong, and you’ll get there.

  15. Mr6292 says:

A gambling ad in the UK from ‘Bet 365′, talks about the flexibility of its ‘in-game’ gambling, where you can bet on the number of goals, who will score etc. It’s motto is, ‘It’s all about the in-play’.
The sad truth is it could be all about losing your house, your family, your self respect and your job. I have seen a few friends fall foul of gambling, so maybe If you can’t stop, only bet a certain amount each month which you can afford to lose without affecting your livelihood.
